furniture commission process
from idea to heirloom – here’s how it works:
Every commission starts with a conversation and ends with a piece built around you.
here’s what you can expect.
The process:
- consultation: tell me what you’re imagining – the piece, the space, the dimensions, your budget and your timeline. We’ll talk through wood species, design options and what’s possible.
- design & estimate: you’ll receive a detailed estimate with specific design elements before any work begins. No surprises.
- contract & deposit: once you’re happy with the estimate, you’ll sign a contract and submit a $500 deposit to secure your place in the build schedule. this is when your project officially begins.
- build: I begin working on your piece and send weekly updates throughout the build so you’re never left wondering – and so we can make adjustments together if something unexpected arises or isn’t looking quite right. most furniture commissions take 6-8 weeks.
- approval & final payment: once the piece is complete, I’ll send you photos for final approval – or if you’re in the Sierra vista area, you’re welcome to stop by and see it in person. the remaining balance is due upon your approval.
- delivery: if local, I personally deliver your piece to its final location. for nationwide clients, I build a custom crate and have it shipped directly to your door.

every custom furniture commission is a direct collaboration — no production line, no middlemen, just a local woodworker and a client building something worth keeping.
